Role Description:
Kronos Bio seeks a highly motivated Senior Research Associate to join its chemistry team located in Cambridge, MA. As a member of the discovery/medicinal chemistry team, this individual will contribute to establishment of a proprietary compound library through traditional and parallel synthesis, or to optimize hits and lead series toward a drug candidate. The applicant is expected to have strong experimental skills, good communication ability, eagerness for learning, and contribute to a strong culture of teamwork and collaboration.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Independently execute syntheses of target compounds.
  • Independently extend existing synthetic routes.
  • Be able to understand failed reactions and propose modifications.
  • Understand and apply knowledge of the chemical and biological issues affecting the project.
  • Contribute new ideas to the project team.
  • Utilize literature searches to solve specific research problems.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, and train others in its use.
  • Learn, acquire and apply new experimental techniques.
  • Utilize training and resources (external and internal) to stay current in chemistry.
  • Maintain high standards of laboratory safety, comply with the safety manual and complete required training courses.
  • Perform research in compliance with all applicable regulatory and guidelines, as informed by supervisor.
  • Conduct other chemistry-related tasks, as informed by supervisor.
Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry with 4-6 or 2-4 years of industrial experience, respectively.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Simultaneously balance multiple tasks.
  • Show initiative to expand scope and depth of technical competence.
  • Act as technical resource in a defined area.
  • Independently plan work to support team and project objectives.
  • Work together with other members of a project team to accomplish team objectives.
  • Demonstrate resiliency and flexibility when confronted with programmatic changes and/or new scientific directions.
  • Ability to clearly communicate ideas and research results.
